1,2,3…7

Yesterday it was friday night and I didn’t go out to party, it’s the first friday in 7 weeks. I actually feel way rested than I’ve done the past two weeks. I think I really needed that break. Anyhow, I’ve been working more than usually and that will certainly show at payday. One thing though, I have no clue what to do with the money, except saving them for my upcoming studies this fall. Well, I’m off to play badminton now..

J&B Rare /w Jesper

I’m currently sitting on the couch over at Jespers aparment, with a fresh bottle of J&B rare scotch blended whiskey. He got this bottle from his employer as a gift. Ain’t that great, who doesn’t want an employer like that! Anyhow, off to the whiskey. It’s a blended scotch made up with no less than 42 malt and grain whiskies.  If you’d like to read about the history you can find it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J&B.

The bottle has a very characteristic yellow label with big red letters covering the green glass. It’s very light golden, almost a little to pale for my taste.

The smell is gentle, a little sweet and fairly smokey. Which is expected for this kind of whiskey. You can feel alot of grain as soon as you taste the whiskey with a medium smokey flavour coming afterwards. This will have to do, as I can’t be bothered to spend more time on this review now when I have a good friend of mine next to me.

A corretion

Today I gave my self the opportunity to drink some Black Velvet again, this time with my friend Kristian.  I’ll have edit a little thing that I wrote in my “review”. I said that I coulnd’t smell/taste the fruitiness of the whisky.. Now, with a healty nose I can definitely say it’s there, both in smell and taste. If you have any request on a specific whiskey to be reviewd leave a comment or let me know in some other way that you find suitable .

Weekend summary part 2

I promised Jesper to go with him to some random hillbilly place outside Örebro, to fetch his newly bought aquarium. It started off with him oversleeping and then he realized his car didn’t have a pulling hook. Late and with his fathers car we finally get going. A few hours and many wrong turns later we arrive to find ourself lifting a aquarium 200×60x60 cm! Then we hade the 2,5 hour drive to get back home.
Anyhow, once the aquarium got in place we made some food and drank a couple of drinks. A nice way to end the little one day roadtrip.

Hardcore superstar review

… the four man band entered the stage and the crowd which wich was mede up of 95% Carlingrockers went balistic. The new guitarist, can’t even remember his name to be honest, was worth jack shit! Silver made such a better job and were consistent with style of the band.

The setlist was good, nothing to complain about really. Nothing special, mixed songs from Hardcore superstar and Dreamin’ in a casket albums. Medicate me didn’t get played, which seems odd ’cause in my opinion that’s the strongest song from their last album.

The sound was horrible, even when you knew the songs by heart you could barley make out the diffent chords and parts of the song. Best performance goes to Jocke Berg, he’s quite a frontman and does tons of work for the band on stage.

All in all it wasn’t worth the money payed for a ticket. I can’t blame Hcss for all of this ’cause the whole day kind of went wrong.

Weekend summary part 1

Got off work around 14 PM but hanged around to gossip a little due to some rescent events at the school. Anyhow I got home and remade my makeup. Once on the bus and on the way to town, the railroad security gates malfunctioned so the bus couldn’t cross the railroad. We were stuck for 30 minutes! Couldn’t get any worse? Oh yeah.. We got to the party, downed the whisky and made our way to the venue where Hardcore superstar would play. Once we get there I have to give up my leatherjacket due to “policyrules”.  Let’s fast forward a little untill Hcss entered the stage. Now it got really bad…

Black Velvet

Those who know me know that I’m a quite big fan of different sorts of Whiskey. Therefor I’ve decided to write my opinion on those I taste.

Disclaimer: I don’t claim to be good at whiskeys. I can offer my opinion, and my opinion only. If you disagree, fine just don’t come and make a big deal about it.

Black Velvet is the first whisky (no, not whiskey since it’s a Canadian brand.) to be “rewied” by me.

As I stated it’s a blended Canadian whisky with 40% alcohol. The bottle is simple with a black labe, ooh are you suprised? Originally this whisky was called Black Label but changed name somewhere  around the 1950’s I think. To my knowledge there are two different sorts of Black Velvet, the standard one I’ll be writing about and the Black Velvet reserve (maybe I’ll review that one someday.). Black Velvet is quite cheap compared to the alternatives, atleast here in Sweden.

The smell is really really smooth, kind of the opposite to Jim Beam.

The taste is quite simple and straight forward with a strong punch of alcohol. Still it’s smooth somehow. Some say it’s a little fruity but I can’t taste that,  maybe ’cause I got a cold at the moment.

Black Velvet is a quite good whisky. It’s not a aged 21 years but for it’s price it’s all right. If you doesn’t like smokey whiskies you should definitly check it out.
